Piyush Kumar Roy is a practicing advocate at Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi. He occasionally also appears before Civil Courts of Jharkhand and other tribunals. 

He has also undergone a course on arbitration and obtained a certificate of Professional Commercial Arbitration from Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation, New Delhi. 


His major interest and practice area includes criminal law, service law, ADR etc. 


He is actively engaged in the field of research. He has been adviser to the Jharkhand Police for preparation of Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for investigation in motor accident cases. 

He has various publication in his name in reputed journals which includes Scopus Indexed Journal as well. 

He has also conducted vast research in socio- legal issues of State of Jharkhand in coordination with Department of Law, Government of Jharkhand and Jharkhand Legal Services Authority.

Other interest includes working in the area of legal aid and legal reforms. 

He has led Legal Aid Clinic of his law school as a President and Convenor of three consecutive years. 

Apart from practicing law, he is currently involved in preparation of modules and practice handbooks related to new criminal laws.
